When Gmail starts to become one of the top free email service, lot of users starts looking for a way to download their email data. Google recently introduce the option to download all your Google data along with your Gmail messages. In this article am going to explain you how to download your Gmail data along with all your Google data.
Initially Google enabled the option to download your Google Calendar, but confirmed that soon they will enable the option to download all your Google data including Gmail Messages. Now its officially enabled to all users.
How to download Gmail data:
Follow the below steps to download the Gmail messages.
Login to your Gmail account.
On left hand side, Click on Control your Content and select Creative Archive.
Go to Account Settings. You can also go to your account settings directly from here.
Under Account tools click on Download Data
Select the Gmail from the list you want to download. If you want, you can select the remaining options also.
Click on Next at the bottom of the screen. You can customize the format of the data that you want to download. If so, then click on Customize download format.
This will be the final screen of download process where you can select the File Type (Compression format:- .zip, .tgz, .tbz) and Delivery method.
Either you can save directly to your Google Drive account or Google will send you an email with download link. Select one of this based on your preference and click on Create archive.
Create the archive may take an hour or a day abased on the process queue and the amount of data available in your account. Once the files are ready, Google will send you an email with a link to download the file or to your backup file which is stored at Google Drive.
If you are selected the Delivery method as Google Drive then Google will create a folder called “Takeaway” in Google Drive and stores all the backup files inside this folder.
